In 59 AD, as the Celt horde on Anglesey succumbs to Roman aggression,
war goddess Fey grants Lucan Mac Aliester his wish--life. Lucan soon discovers
that it is not his Druidic people the bargain elevates, but himself. He
receives not only great strength and a command over wolves, but the ability
to see through the eyes of ravens. But what is the genuine motive for
the bequest of Fey? This chronicle tells of Lucan's bloody journey from
chieftain to the deified leader of a new barbarian race. |

Reviews and Accolades
"Just finished it last night, and it was fucking OUTSTANDING. I really,
really enjoyed it. Been a long time since I read a fun, historical fantasy
like that. And it had BALLS." "As I read through the first chapter of Godforsaken, I couldn't
help being reminded of Jack Whyte's impressive series, The Camulod Chronicles,
another work that examines the struggles between Rome and the early Britons.Shrewsbury
ties things up in a rather nifty fashion. It's a nice twist." 4 Alien
heads out of 5 One of the best authors at self-promotion (to me and my e-mail box and
favorite links) has to be Steven Shrewsbury. Every time you find a new
site to look at, you'll eventually run into Steven. Could "Godforsaken"
(Behler Publications) be worth it? In a word... yes. As most of you know
I am a huge Conan the Barbarian fan and this book is right up my alley.
It's not a rip-off but a unique story starting in 59 AD and following
Lucan Mac Aliester and his strength, magic and soul. Shrewsbury weaves
well-known myths into his own words and sucks you into a huge world that's
a match for anything the fantasy greats have put out. Next time you see
his name in an e-mail or on a site, dig deeper. You won't be disappointed. Steven Shrewsbury is a science fiction / fantasy writer whose fan base
is rapidly growing. The reason for his popularity is clear in Godforsaken.
Shrewsbury is an accomplished storyteller with a gift for story and character
development. Shrewsbury weaves a rousing tale.the plotting is masterful
and endlessly exciting. Godforsaken is a potent novel, raw in the telling, brutal in concept-it
is compelling evidence of wondrous things yet to come from one of the
genre's most prolific writers. Keep your eye on Steven Shrewsbury. |
